A Perfect Day

A perfect day

Today the Sun lit up a cloudless sky,
As beautiful a day as there could be,
Today would be a perfect day to die,

I sit upon a grassy hill to scry,
the swallows as they frolic over me,
Today the Sun lit up a cloudless sky,

In the meadow spring lambs gambol spry,
exultant as a new life tends to be,
Today would be a perfect day to die,

Waterboatmen hunt across a snye,
Beneath the weathered timbers of a quay,
Today the Sun lit up a cloudless sky,

A buzzing sound, and past me there does fly,
A pollen laden honeybee or three,
Today would be a perfect day to die,

Today my gift of Love was cast awry,
Discarded in a way I di’nt forsee.
the Sun lit up a clear and cloudless sky
Today would be a perfect day to die.
